Genius Bar w/ CustomersBussinessWeek conducted a recent survey looking for which companies have the best customer service. Apple ranked 3rd in this lineup making it #1 of all computer manufacturers. The next best computer manufacturer was Dell who placed 23rd.

First place went to L.L. Bean and second place went to USAA, an insurance company. Apple received its’ highest marks for “Quality of Staff” and “Efficiency of Service”. Apple placed 20th in last year’s poll by Business Week, showing that they have made considerable progress over the past year.

We have looked at the launch of Apple, from before Apple was even Apple, and before Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak even knew each-other. Now they have started Apple in Jobs’ garage and Wozniak has started creating the board that became the Apple 1.

Yesterday we looked at who the founders of Apple were, before Apple existed. Both Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs (read yesterday’s article here). Most of us recognize these two as the co-founders of Apple. Few people realize however, that a third partner was also in the mix, Ronald Wayne.

This is the commencement of a series of articles about how the culture of Apple came to be. To tell this story, we don’t want to leave out any details. The point of this series, is to divulge some facts that we don’t already know. Most of us know how it starts, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak start making the Apple I by hand, in Steve Jobs’ garage. Like any story, the best place to start is the beginning, but we already know that, so let’s go back farther.
