BussinessWeek conducted a recent survey looking for which companies have the best customer service. Apple ranked 3rd in this lineup making it #1 of all computer manufacturers. The next best computer manufacturer was Dell who placed 23rd.
First place went to L.L. Bean and second place went to USAA, an insurance company. Apple received its’ highest marks for “Quality of Staff” and “Efficiency of Service”. Apple placed 20th in last year’s poll by Business Week, showing that they have made considerable progress over the past year.
Sadly, the news of Steve Job’s loss in the TIME Magazine race for “person of the year” has recently emerged, but luckily we have a nice bandaid to push us through the pain. Job’s was just rated by Harvard Business Review as “The Best Preforming CEO in the World”. This prestigious award took into account nearly 2,000 CEOs from 48 nationalities.

One thing I have always enjoyed about my Mac is the high amount of free little applications that are available for it. For some reason, the mac community tends to scratch each other’s backs and create various little applications, that add functionality that you probably never thought you would want. #5 – Caffeine
I guarantee no one ever thought that installing an app would solve this problem. But we have probably all felt the pain of life without it. Have you ever been watching a movie, presenting a keynote, or just plain staring at your computer when it all of a sudden dims or goes to sleep? We all know the solution… and we all go through the same process. It starts off by jiggling the mouse to wake it up again. Then we realize how annoying that could be, but go straight on working. A few seconds later it does it again. Now we are sort of upset, so we go to system preferences to change the screensaver settings, but then pause when we realize that we will probably forget to change it back again and will eventually come back to our macbook down the road and it will be dead because it didn’t auto-dim or auto-sleep. So we close system preferences and resort to jiggling the mouse every 30 seconds. However, every time we jiggle that mouse we think to ourselves, “I wish there was a better way”. Interbrand today announced its’ list of the best global brands. Apple made it to spot #20. This was a 12% increase up the list the second best, only comparable to Google who increased 25%. Google’s and Apple’s rivalry will likely increase further with that one. Despite the economic depression Apple has been able to stay on top of things. Read the rest of this entry »
