We have heard much controversy over the past month between two dominating tech companies: Adobe, and Apple. Since around 2007 with the introduction of the iPhone, Apple has made a greater stand against the use of Adobe Flash on its’ products. Apple was very quite about the use of Flash on its’ new iPhone mobile device. They knew that openly derogating the value of Flash would cause a web-wide uproar, which caused Apple to more secretly despise the format. More recently with the introduction of Safari, Apple made repeated comments that the number one cause of Safari crashes were triggered from flash applications. We also heard during the introduction of Snow Leopard that Flash causes unnecessary CPU spikes which reduces battery life. It seems that every day, Apple grows bolder in its’ fight against the mighty Flash and Adobe behemoth.
Most recently, after the introduction of the Apple iPad, Steve Jobs has been quoted as saying many nasty things towards Flash. He also openly said that HTML5 is likely to replace Flash altogether, therefore no action is necessary towards creating Flash experiences on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. With all these means things that Apple has done to our poor friend Adobe, is there anyway that they can kiss and make-up? The answer is: ”Yes, Maybe”.

Have you wanted to get in on the iPhone app craze, but can’t, because you simple aren’t a coder? Well for all of you that feel that way, your future is looking very bright. We have already heard that the new version of Adobe Flash that is to be released later this year, will have the option to export to iPhone App format. The problem is that a copy of Flash will set you back about a minimum of $400, plus it is still going to require you to use some code (albeit actionscript).
Now there is a new option, an app that will allow you to create an app without a single semi-colon of code, it’s called App-o-mator.

This is by far the coolest app we have ever seen come to the iPhone. The idea is so original and so much more advanced than any other app on the market right now. Parrot, a french company (view english site here), has debuted a new augmented reality app for the iPhone and iPod touch, that lets you control a remote controlled helicopter using the wi-fi from your iPhone or iPod touch. The controls are “intuitive” and “user friendly” as told by the companies promotional video, however we haven’t been able to get our hands on one yet for a full review (wink, wink Parrot).

[UPDATE AT END] It wasn’t long ago that we heard AT&T’s CEO admonish iPhone users that live in areas like New York and San Francisco, to ease up on phone usage. He asked them to not use as much data despite the fact that they had unlimited data plans and also payed a $30 premium for using an iPhone’s data plan.
Many consumer’s weren’t so fond of that, neither were they fond of the “threats” that the said CEO eluded to in his press release (taking away of privileges, adding fees, etc.). This caused such an uproar that many consumers actually planned an attack on the AT&T network by overloading it to the point that it falls.
Now AT&T has a new approach; Deny new customers access to this problematic device.

However pointless this post may seem to be initially, I can promise you that sheer creativity on behalf of some iPhone app developers warrants it.
Have you ever felt so out of air that you couldn’t blow out your own candles?
How about so tired that you couldn’t blow herbs across the table to… umm… where-ever you wanted them to go?
Have you ever been in a remote location and instantly wished you had a very low powered leaf blower in your pocket? Read the rest of this entry »

It has been just under 2.5 years since the epic launch of the iPhone. Since that day we have seen great improvements. Not so much on the phone side, as the basic phone features of the iPhone have not changed dramatically (with the exception of multimedia messaging that is barely becoming available) since its’ introduction, but more-so on the mobile computing side. The iPhone (and iPod touch) platform has developed into the largest collection of apps ever for a mobile platform. The mobile safari browser too, has shown us that we can expect a mobile web surfing experience comparable to laptop. The iPhone platform has soared above the competition, leaving all other iPhone Clones (of which there have been MANY) in the dust.
But today marks the one-week mark of the introduction of the Motorola Droid which runs the Android mobile platform. Within its’ first week of sales, the droid has sold over 250,000 units. These sales scores are second only to the infamous iPhone launch, which brings to question… Can the Android mobile platform overpower the iPhone mobile platform? If there ever was a chance that it could happen, it is NOW! Read the rest of this entry »

When I first saw this newsline, I simply thought to myself, “well thats good, more video sites that are iPhone compatible are always nice”, then I continued on working. After about a minute I paused… thought about what I just read, and went back to the article to investigate further. Livestream is not another video supplier for iPhone, I missed the key word. Live video! Livestream has used the new quicktime live support protocol and created an amazingly simple interface to send live video to the any iPhone or iPod touch. That is when I said to myself again, “WOW, this is HUGE!”. Read the rest of this entry »
