This picture, captured from Apple’s site today (click to enlarge), is proof of two models of iPads will exist. Of course that isn’t anything new, Steve Jobs told us yesterday that there will be a wifi model and a wifi + 3G model. But this is the first time we have seen that there may be a difference in physical appearance between the two models. The 3G model is the one on the left, sporting the black translucent strip for the 3G antennae, while the wifi-only model lacks this sporty feature.

It isn’t and iPod, it isn’t and iPhone, it isn’t a MacBook… It is the long awaited Apple Tablet device, now deemed “iPad”. It has a 9.7″ screen, full multi-touch, with an onscreen keyboard. The keyboard is only a bit smaller than a full-size laptop keyboard. It is there when you want it, gone when you don’t. Battery life is remarkable on the new device, expect 10 Hours of full use on one battery charge and a month of standby time. Steve Jobs declared that he can fly from San Francisco to New York and back and watch videos on the iPad the whole time.

We wish we were offering you live coverage support right now, but we aren’t this time. We hope that future events may allow us to do so. But the event starts today, in about an hour and some of you may want to see what is happening live. There are a few sites out there that will be covering this live (microblogging style).

We have seen Steve Jobs get excited about virtually every product or feature that he releases during these events. It doesn’t matter if it is cover flow in iTunes, or the unveiling of the iPod, Steve Jobs has a hard time holding in his excitement. Steve Jobs has done a lot for this industry. He has virtually invented the personal computer, he created the first graphical user interface, he has created some of the earliest fully enclosed modern computer units (iMac/ eMac), taken on the music industry with the iPod (and is now the #1 distributer of music through iTunes and makes the #1 music device with the iPod), and more recently he has turned the cell phone industry upside down with the introduction of the iPhone. What more is there to say? Steve Jobs has made some pretty revolutionary products that have changed the world that we live in. Now comes the real surprise, Jobs is now quoted by Michael Arrington of TechCrunch as saying: “This will be the most important thing I have ever done”.
Mac observer.com has released some leaked photos of the upcoming apple tablet glass. The photo also puts the tablet to scale for the first time by showing it on top of a macbook keyboard. It is about the same size as the keyboard verifying the notion of a 10″ tablet screen.
In addition, the photos also show us that the tablet truly appears to be nothing more than an oversized iPhone. We can see the menu button hole in the photos. The black outline around the screen also seconds that idea.
The photos are cryptic and low quality. We don’t know if they are real or not, but they do provide some added speculation to the mystery around the tablet device that is to be released this wednesday. Mac Observer says that they are from a “trustable source”, but doesn’t really clarify who that is.
All in all, the truth will come out in only 2 days. Let’s continue to hold our breath.

No, there isn’t a new release of Mac OS X just yet, but there are obviously some users out there (mostly within Apple’s ranks) that are apparently testing out some early versions of the OS. This is known because of the sudden surge in web logs, where the user agent identifies itself as Mac OS X 10.7. Most of these users are coming from the IP Address 17.x.x.x. This further suggests that the release is still deep within Apple, but does give us evidence that the new system is in the works, and should be coming to us this fall.

Have you wanted to get in on the iPhone app craze, but can’t, because you simple aren’t a coder? Well for all of you that feel that way, your future is looking very bright. We have already heard that the new version of Adobe Flash that is to be released later this year, will have the option to export to iPhone App format. The problem is that a copy of Flash will set you back about a minimum of $400, plus it is still going to require you to use some code (albeit actionscript).
Now there is a new option, an app that will allow you to create an app without a single semi-colon of code, it’s called App-o-mator.

This is by far the coolest app we have ever seen come to the iPhone. The idea is so original and so much more advanced than any other app on the market right now. Parrot, a french company (view english site here), has debuted a new augmented reality app for the iPhone and iPod touch, that lets you control a remote controlled helicopter using the wi-fi from your iPhone or iPod touch. The controls are “intuitive” and “user friendly” as told by the companies promotional video, however we haven’t been able to get our hands on one yet for a full review (wink, wink Parrot).

Less than a year ago, Apple announced that the app store has officially reached the billion download mark. Over a billion apps have been downloaded from the mighty Apple cloud to the powerful hands of iPhone users and iPod touch owners. This is a monumental milestone for any store. It took iTunes (music) much longer to reach the same milestone that the app store has done in only nine months time. Since the day of that monumental step of 1 Billion downloads, we have seen exponential growth in the app store, both in downloads, and available apps. Now we are reaching a new milestone, something 3 times better.
