The Mac Coach.com Site

Yes, yes I know. We have promised The Mac Coach for several months now, and despite valiant efforts on our parts and ALOT, ALOT of overtime working on it, it is still not up. You might wonder what is going on behind the scenes. How can it take so long to launch this site. Why would someone make a promise that they couldn’t keep?

Well, hopefully all these answer will receive responses in this post today. First of all, I want to talk about The Mac Coach and what we plan to offer in the coming months to our users.

The Mac Coach’s desire, is to spread the love of Apple products worldwide (yes, we already have an international audience, welcome everyone) and to help consumers of all levels become more affluent with these products. We are geared towards all levels, however the first parts to launch will be designed more for beginners, but worry not… more is on the way for everyone else. Read the rest of this entry »

The New MacBook's redesigned body

Good Question… there is a whole lot of great new stuff going on for the new MacBook.

Of course first glance shows the new body shape. The MacBook has been redesigned from the ground up as far as body and structure is concerned. The body is a bit more trim and light than the previous models. It is also a unibody like the macbook pro, which increases strength and durability. It also allows Apple to design it thinner. The screen also received the LED backlit technology which is not only a nicer screen, but on a laptop it also equals better battery life. In conjunction with its’ new battery… we are talking some serious battery life, up to 7Hrs! The new battery in the MacBook is similar to the Pro 13″. It is embedded in the casing which means no more hot-swapping batteries (downside) but also means that you can trim weight and increase battery size. This means that now we are holding the equivalent of about 2 (previous version) batteries with us at all times.

Then there is the nice new Glass Trackpad. This makes the MacBook the first laptop from Apple to receive the glass trackpad. Read the rest of this entry »

Whats new with MacBook?

The most astonishing piece of Apple’s new phase of upgrades would have to the the Magic Mighty Mouse. This sleek, clean piece of artwork is what we could be using as a mouse for the next many years (mighty mice don’t get updated very frequently). But I think we could all agree, that we would be just fine with that. This mighty mouse has no visible buttons. It is one seamless polished white surface. Read the rest of this entry »

New Mouse, Magic Mighty Mouse

Author: admin | Filed under: Announcements, Apple Tech

Well, we don’t want to say, “I told you so”…… But we kinda did. Anyway, we were just as excited as you to hear that new macs were released and what it meant. So… let’s take a good look at the lineup.

The elegant Magic Mighty Mouse

We will be talking about each of these individually in upcoming posts. But let’s take an overview.  First of all, as seen above is the Magic Mighty Mouse. Something that we will see shipping with new iMacs and also available individually. Read the rest of this entry »

Leopard Apple in Champagne

Ok, now The Mac Coach enjoys reading about rumors of upcoming Apple products as much as the rest of you. We get a kick out of what the creative minds have come up with using photoshop and wordpress, which is why The Mac Coach normally steers clear of becoming another Mac Rumor site unless of course the rumor is so outlandish and hysterical that we know that no one wouldn’t want to hear about it, or if the rumor is fairly certain and upcoming. Well in this case, we have found one that falls into the latter category.

Some advertisements have been unintentionally prematurely released by the apple.nl store (That is the Apple Online store in the Netherlands), which verify the rumor that a new mac lineup is on its way any tuesday now for the holiday season. Read the rest of this entry »

The Application Revolution - "There's an app for that"

The feature is nothing new nor extraordinary, however it will be something that could lead to an increase in Free apps on the app store. Put simply, starting immediately, iPhone app developers will be able to create add-on content that users can purchase from within the app, even if it is a free app. This was possible before, albeit on the paid apps.

What does this mean for users? Well, we may now see more “lite” games or apps that offer upgrades throughout the program. For example, maybe a game that will allow you to download more levels after you have completed the first 3 that came included on the “lite” version. We could see the commencement of trial apps, that we download for free, and then upgrade later, maybe even apps that have full software options, but that expire after a 30-day period, which then require an in-app purchase to unlock. Apple Time Capsules Dying World-Wide Without Warning

photo from: timecapsuledead.org

It has been a little over 18 months since Steve Jobs stood before consumers world-wide and announced a new product that Apple was introducing: Time Capsule. This handy device was essentially an Airport Extreme with a built-in hard drive. This device would allow you to take advantage of Apple’s then-new application, Time Machine, designed to reinvent how we do backups. Well for nearly 2 years, Apple has been selling these Time Capsules to many happy Apple customers, who have been faithfully backing up their computers wirelessly using their Time Capsule. Now, an average 17 months, 3 days later (according to the register, timecapsuledead.org: October 15, 2009 – 4:00 pm) these devices are shutting down without warning all across the world.

The unexpected loss of Time Capsules has caused many owners mourning over not only the loss of their relatively young product, but also the loss of thier backed-up data. The distress was so tough on one customer that it caused him to create an online registry where mourners around the world could unite and help one another. This online registry is found at http://www.timecapsuledead.org. Read the rest of this entry »
